The annual international conference on Mathematical Methods and Models in Biosciences (Biomath 2016) will take place from 19th to 25th June 2016 at the University centre Bachinovo, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, and will be hosted by the South-West University "N. Rilski"). The conference is devoted to recent research in life sciences based on applications of mathematics as well as mathematics applied to or motivated by biological studies. It is a multidisciplinary meeting forum for researchers who develop and apply mathematical and computational tools to the study of phenomena in the broad fields of biology, ecology, medicine, biotechnology, bioengineering, environmental science, etc.

Contributed talks in any of these fields are invited for presentation at the conference. Participants need to submit a one-page abstract indicating clearly the significance of the reported results for the advancement of knowledge in bioscience and/or biotechnology. Proceeding of the conference will be published in volume 5 (2016) of the journal BIOMATH and other scientific journals (click here for more). The authors need to comply with the scope and the requirements of the journal if they would like to submit.
Papers submission deadline: September 30, 2016.

The conference continues a tradition of scientific meetings on Biomathematics held in Bulgaria since 1995 (see Biomath forum). It is supported by several research units of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (such as the Regional Academic Center -- Blagoevgrad, the Institutes of Mathematics and Informatics, Information and Communication Technologies, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering, Mechanics, Neurobiology, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research, etc.), several Universities (such as the Sofia University "Kliment Ohridski", Technical University Sofia, Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski", South-West University "Neofit Rilski"), as well as the Union of the Bulgarian Mathematicians. The conference is also supported by the Society for Mathematical Biology (SMB) and the European Society for Mathematical and Theoretical Biology (ESMTB).

Biomath School for Young Scientists
The school comprises plenary lectures, contributed presentations (talks and posters) and an instructional workshop. The lectures at the school are of more introductory nature giving foundations and insight into the respective topic rather then focusing on new results and are presented by some of the keynote speakers of the conference. A central event for the school is the Hot Topics Workshop. Several scholars act as moderators, presenting "hot areas" and related open problems. All PhD students and young scientists participating in the conference are considered members of the School for Young Scientists. Their presentations (oral or posters) will be assessed by a jury. more
